Flying has been my passion and I love teaching others to fly. Each of your lessons is a step toward your goal of soaring alone or with family and friends to one or more than 5,000 public use airports in the US. The beauty from above is marvelous looking down at the pristine lakes, flying over the mountains, following dirt roads to outback sparsely populated areas of our nation. And of course the aircraft you are going to fly will save hours of driving time on our crowded roads, getting you to where you want to be, when you want to be there. Your luggage will also arrive at the same time you do without the hassle of baggage claim and long lines.

Renting Cessna 172s

Almost every country in the world now has Cessna 172s for rent for a life time experience. I have been fortunate to have flown off Lake Como Italy toward the magnificent Alps, followed the Murry River to the Outback of Australia, flown around Mt Cook in New Zealand and landed a ski plane on frozen lakes in Alaska with the Trumpeter Swan flying close by. Another summer to land on gravel river beds of Alaska and fly up the cannons of Denali. I encourage my students to seek the endless adventures which only wings can provide. I have dreams also- my next overseas adventure will be to Flensburg, Germany to land their seaplane in the Baltic Sea. We all have dreams and why not? We chose our destiny, one day at a time experiencing the joy of being airborne as we chart our course in life.

Career in Aviation

America flies and so can you. If you choose to, you can also have a career in aviation. Our nation is and has been dependent on aviation. In the near future we will have a shortage of pilots again. Over 90% of the pilots start their aviation career in their home town or nearby airport which can fulfill all your training requirements for a job you are sure to enjoy and which you will never become bored. I have never met a pilot that did not love his flying career.

Private pilot license

A private pilot license is also a stepping stone toward a military appointment if you are seeking a challenging, rewarding and needed service.

Make Flying Enquiry Appointment

I have always taken pride in the aircraft I own and operate. Call to find out when it would be a good time to come meet me and Blue Belle, my well equipped Cessna 172. You can also bring along a friend for the back seat. I look forward to meeting and flying with you. Susan 828-413-3636

Frequently asked questions:

Question: Is age a factor in learning to fly?
Answer: I have students of all ages from 13 to 78. The ground school (book learning) is not difficult, it is just different than regular school work and in most cases a lot more interesting and fun.

Question: I don't have a lot of time to spare. Can I still learn to fly?
Answer: Yes, all training is individualized for each student and their schedule. Although ideally, a student learns best and remembers better by flying more frequently, some students fly less frequently because of time or expense. All fees are on a "pay as you go" basis, no money up front.

Question: I am interested in a career in aviation. How far can I go
toward fulfilling my goals?
Answer: Many students of aviation get their private license at their local airport so they are more eligible for scholarships to one of the over 200 aviation Colleges or Universities that have aviation programs. Some students elect to complete all their training and experience locally for a corporate pilot career, however it easier to obtain a job with the aviation degree from a two or four year accredited college.
